Belgians know their chocolates !

It is safe to say that the Belgian Chocolate Praline (filled chocolate) is some of the finest in the world.

Not to be confused with American praline, made of sugar and nuts, and based on American beans, Belgians use the stronger cocoa beans from Africa.

The origins of the Belgian praline go back the  1912, when  Jean Neuhaus, a pharmacist founded the first chocolate shop in Brussels.

Since then, many chocolate makers have helped to give Belgian Chocolates their world-wide fame and reputation : Wittamer, Marcolini, Godiva, Corné… just to name a few.

To better understand the relationship between Belgians and chocolate, check this link to an article from USA Today.
